Somewhere in our sixteenth year we reach the unfathomable figures of the four hundredth edition of our series. How did that happen? What do we have in store to mark this moment?

Glasgow songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jo Mango has so far filled the Daylight stage with a murmuration of knitted birds, performed as part of a legendary Eurovision edition and helped present Distant Voices, a project that explores crime, punishment and reintegration through songwriting. She has played alongside David Byrne, Vashti Bunyan, Devendra Banhart, Vetiver, and Adem in some iconic venues. Most recently she has delved into gig theatre, co-devising and performing in 'A Giant on the Bridge', which is touring this year and showcasing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She is also a songwriting researcher with a PhD in musicology and works on running the MA Music: Songwriting programme at the University of the West of Scotland.

Adem is a singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and composer who first performed at Daylight Music in 2017 as a guest of Emily Barker in a rather dazzling and powerful performance. Adem came to people’s attention with post-rock adventures in 'FRIDGE', then again in the 90's through his critically acclaimed alt-folk as 'Adem' and with Homefires festival, followed by many productions, remixes and collaborations and most recently his film scores (recently The Ballad of Wallis Island). He has worked with a wildly diverse number of people, from Arthur Baker to Philip Selway (Radiohead) to Sia to the RSC and many, many others. Adem's output is equally eclectic, rooted in warmth, with a human connection and wonderful musicianship. If you haven't already, check out ‘Homesongs’ on Domino Records as a starting point.

NiCKY made their Daylight debut at The Hot Tin as part of a PRAH recordings showcase in September 2024, a beautiful afternoon of music…maybe you were there? They return fresh from shows in Brussels, Glasgow, Marseille, Paris and a sold-out EP launch at London's Cafe Oto, NiCKY offers an intimate performance of songs from their new EP with a seven-track suite of tender leftfield piano ballads and avant-pop confessions exploring love, loss, identity, desire and transformation. NiCKY is a London-based artist, composer, musician and former clown. A vital voice in London's queer performance scene, known for their disarming, emotionally charged songwriting - part torch song, part bedroom synth fantasy. Recent work includes scores for Tomorrow is Already Dead (Soho Theatre), the AIDS Plays Project and their new EP which was released on 28 October (PRAH Recordings).

Come celebrate the end of another year, another milestone edition of our gathering, with a room full of friendly and familiar smiling faces. Combine this with our trademark fuzzy feeling amplified by mulled drinks, mince pies and some snappy cracker jokes. We’d love to see you at our quadricentennial event!

Arctic Circle's Daylight Music has, for over sixteen years, become an important part of London’s live music scene, with a weird and wonderful mix of musicians presenting ideas and storytelling in music and sound, alongside delicious cake, in some of the most splendid and iconic venues.
