Tereza Catarov is a singer, pianist, and composer whose music is deeply rooted in the melodies of her childhood, blending Romanian and Bulgarian influences with modern jazz and improvisation. Accompanying her this afternoon is virtuosic guitarist Cem Evin. We’ll hear music from Tereza’s recent debut album, Koren, which received a 4-star review in Jazzwise. Across the songs she honors the voices of the women who shaped her early life, particularly her grandmothers and the broader community of elders from her childhood.

CHAINES (Cee Haines) is an award-winning musician and artist. They frequently compose and arrange for the London Contemporary Orchestra, including on a recent 2024 BBC Proms. CHAINES also performs live, most recently in the audio-visual extravaganzas The Rite of Autopsy with GBSR Duo and Crystalqueer with Liza Bec. The Guardian described the live version of their album The King as ‘a mesmeric collage of ecclesiastical beauty and creeping dread’ . They began a PhD in 2022 at the RNCM, where they also teach.

Rothko Collective is a contemporary music ensemble led by creative director Dominic Stokes a violist, composer, actor, and director whose open and forward-thinking approach has led him to work with innovators such as the Riot Ensemble, Manchester Camerata and 12 Ensemble alongside his own ensemble (Rothko Collective), who we present today in a duo formation. This afternoon Dominic is joined by Chris Clarke a harpist hailing from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. As a performer Chris’s innovative spirit shines through when premiering new works, having made a notable debut at London's West End with their involvement in productions of Sam Shepard’s works Savage/Love and Tongues. Both Dominic and Christopher are dedicated to opening up classical music to a wider audience, to make it more accessible, and change the way it is perceived in society.

Arctic Circle's Daylight Music has, for over sixteen years, become an important part of London’s live music scene, with a weird and wonderful mix of musicians presenting ideas and storytelling in music and sound, alongside delicious cake, in some of the most splendid and iconic venues.
